FieldX is free. Here’s why.
How it started
When we built SimCare, we just focused on simulations. It took off faster than we expected. Programs loved giving students a way to get practice reps in before heading out into the real world.
But in almost every meeting, the conversation would pivot. A program director would say, “This is great. We want more practice earlier.”
Pause.
“Also, our field operation is held together by spreadsheets and prayers.”
Or they’d say: “We pay a fortune for our field platform, and it still feels broken.”
Building FieldX
Marshall University was in that second camp. My conversations with Dr. Eric Beeson, the chair of Marshall’s counseling program, got practical very quickly. We talked about placements, hours, missing signatures, and the constant scramble to prep records for accreditation.
Through a design partnership with Marshall, we decided to build something to fix it. We had one rule for every feature: Does this actually reduce admin work, and does it help the students?
That became FieldX.
The reality of field work
Field experience is where learning becomes real. But it’s also where programs carry the most invisible work: chasing down who is behind, asking "did this get submitted?", and sweating over documentation.
That work shouldn't be trapped in email chains, and it shouldn't be gated behind clunky, expensive software. So we built FieldX around how your days actually run. It handles placements, hours, evaluations, and accreditation audits without requiring heroics.
What's in it for us? What's the catch?
FieldX is free for life. We will never charge for it.
People always ask what the catch is. There isn’t one.
Here's the whole 'secret': our simulations business does well, and it funds FieldX. A lot of programs meet us through FieldX, and later decide they want our simulations, too.
But you never have to. You can use FieldX forever without buying a thing. We grow SimCare not through paywalls or tricks, but by making your day-to-day easier until you eventually ask, “Okay, what else have you guys built?”
The long game
We also believe FieldX shouldn't stop being useful the day a student graduates. Students get lifetime access so they can use their records for post-grad licensure prep.
We built this because the system running the most important part of your program shouldn't be the hardest part of your day.
It's ready, and it's yours.
Cheers,
